My Approach

Working with me

I offer both counselling and psychotherapy. Generally, we talk about counselling for a specific problem and psychotherapy for longer term work where we might be dealing with something that you know you are unhappy about but you don't know the causes - often because we are dealing with something that is happening unconsciously. You don't have to tell me you want one or the other - we will discuss your needs and I will help you to work out what is right for you.

When you contact me, we will arrange a free initial chat, by phone or online whichever you prefer. This will allow you to learn a bit about me and whether you feel I am someone you could talk openly to. It also allows me to learn about you and what you are looking for. Both of these are really important; you need to feel at ease with me and that you can trust me in order for you to feel safe to tell me your whole story. I need to be confident that I can offer you the help that you need - if not then we will discuss what might suit you better and I will try to help you find the right service.

If you feel that you would like to work with me then I will send you further details about how I work for you to read through before our first consultation. You have the chance to ask further questions before you make any commitment.

Counselling in Kingsbridge

I offer face to face appointments for Counselling and Psychotherapy in Kingsbridge at The Health Hub, situated at the top of Fore Street.

Online counselling

If you would like to work with me, but are not in South Devon, or would be unable to attend face to face then I offer Counselling and Psychotherapy online via zoom. You will need a reliable internet connection good enough to stream video, preferably over a tablet or laptop - generally a phone screen is too small, and difficult to keep still enough. You will also need a safe, quiet space where you can talk undisturbed and without worrying about being overheard. I will send you all the details you need. You do not need to be a computer expert to do this, if you have a computer and a good enough signal we can make it work!

When we work

Appointments are weekly at a mutually agreed time and place. Usually it will be the same day and time each week, though if this is difficult for you, for example because you work shifts, then we can discuss how to make it work for you. Each appointment is for 50 minutes.

Fees

Initial assessment via phone or online free

50 minute appointment £65

If you feel that you would benefit from psychotherapy but would struggle to pay the full price then where possible I offer some sessions at a lower rate. If you are a full-time TQ7 or TQ8 resident and are interested then please contact me for further details.

If you are planning to use health insurance to pay for sessions then please tell me when you first get in touch as some insurance policies limit the type or duration of therapy they will pay for.

Privacy policy

There is some personal information that I need to hold in order to work with you and communicate with you about your appointments. I keep the minimum amount of information that I feel is possible in order to provide you with a good service. If you choose to use the contact button then this website will store your the contact details your enter on the form. If you would prefer not to do this then please telephone me on 07842 760560 and I can record details separately by hand. If you submit details through the form then I will take this as your consent for the details to be stored. They will only be kept until I have contacted you, and thereafter for as long as we agree to ongoing contact. If you do not decide to work with me then I will delete your details unless you ask me to keep them for future use, for example to place you on a mailing list.
